It’s not a particularly cool thing to admit but being a designer I really love grids. The first thing I discovered recently (via my friend and fountain of web developer knowledge Mark) was Blueprint a super robust CSS framework. I’ve not had a chance to apply it to a proper site yet but I had a quick play with it and it looks like it will save a lot of time re-treading old ground. One thing I am really impressed with is the baseline grid anyway I will post more on my experience with blueprint when I have a chance to use it more extensively.
So as a gridophile (sounds kind of creepy) I was stoked to find The Art Of The Grid a site built with our sort in mind. Notepads based on popular grids and even shelves built on famous grid systems. Check out these Guardian shelves.
I have a penchant for old school skateboard art and I have to say when I saw some of the jewelery being produced by these guys I got pretty hot under the collar!
Lead Coachwhip and Ohsee John Dwyer has a very interesting interview available for download over at Fecal Face where he gets progressively more and more drunk while discussing music in Providence, the start of the Coachwhips, touring, fighting in Toronto, drugs, recording, favorite shows, the new Ohsees album and a bunch of other stuff. The interview then carries on as John plays a mix of great music that he likes. Go download it now. Infact while you are there sign-up to the Fecal Face podcast cos it’s well worth it.
